A day after five persons who visited the air show organised by the Indian Air Force (IAF) on Marina beach in Chennai died due to heat-related exhaustion, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin condoled the deaths and announced a solatium of 15 lakh to the families of each of the deceased.
"I am pained to learn that five precious human lives were lost due to ex- ical reasons. This is an ir treme heat and other med reparable and huge loss to the families of the de ceased. I extend my deep condolences to them. I have directed a solatium of 15 lakh to the families of each of the deceased," he said on Monday.

In a statement,stalin contended that the Ta- extended administrative cooperation and made ar rangements beyond what was sought by the IAF for the conduct of the air show on Sunday. The police and fire and rescue services de partments, the Greater Chennai Corporation, and Coordinated with each oth the Health department had er to make comprehensive arrangements, he said.
"Because of this, stam pedes were prevented. However, since the number of people who turned up was much higher than expect ed, I learnt that people faced hardship in reaching their vehicles on their way back and in getting public transport. Additional at- tention would be accorded to these issues when events of this scale are or- ganised in future," Mr. Sta- lin said.
Heat-related deaths
Earlier in the day, Health Minister Ma. Subramanian said all five deaths were caused by heat-related is- sues. "A total of 102 per- sons were admitted to the hospital. Seven persons are being treated now. They are stable. Others have been discharged. We regret to inform that five persons have died. All five were brought dead to the hospital. The IAF had ad- vised the visitors to carry water bottles, caps, um- brellas, and cooling glasses to protect themselves from the sun," he said.
